Feeling Thankful (2 months old)
A recap of November! The month began with Ricky's 2 month doctor visit. He weighed in at 10 pounds 11 ounces, which means he's gaining weight just fine. His head grew the most this time, getting him into the 50% range. Although Daddy came home with a cold that he shared with Mommy, this little guy was strong and fought it off. Phew! We were so worried about getting him sick. Ricky fell into a nice routine this month, waking around 7am, taking 3 naps a day, and going to bed around 8 or 9pm. He can only stay awake about 2 hours and still eats about every 2 hours! So, we squeeze in as much play time as possible between those naps. Mommy also started putting Rick Enzo in his crib for those naps, instead of the bassinet since he's growing so quickly.
Ricky's favorite thing to do at 2 months old was looking at lights...any light! He loves laying on his play mat and looking at "Ellie" the elephant with colorful light up ears. In fact, he thought it was hilarious, and we love that laugh. Making Ricky laugh is pretty easy and certainly contagious, and he is definitely ticklish like Mommy. What else makes Ricky laugh?...bopping his nose, tickling his lips with his binky, tickling his chin(s), Daddy saying "Como se llama funky mama," Peek a boo hippo, and Mommy's Eskimo kisses. He is a smiley happy boy! He is still rocking his little faux-hawk, which got Mommy calling him Ricky Rooster. He is also still mesmerised by Daddy's voice; his eyes get so big as soon as he hears him enter the room.
Rick Enzo had a lot of outings this month, including a trip to Fox College where Mommy's coworkers spoiled him with love and cuddles, a trip to the polls to vote with Mommy & Daddy, a walk to the park by Gigi's where he had his first ride on a swing with Mommy and Fia, and going to Daddy's basketball games. Ricky likes all the action at the game, but not the loud buzzer, so we got him earmuffs.
We had some more "firsts" this month, too. Ricky found his hands, which made him very happy. So, during Mommy and Ricky breakfast time, we sing Sweet Caroline for him...("hands, touching hands, reaching out...."). The best new development this month was hearing Ricky find his voice-Mommy's heart just melts! He babbles on and on, as if he is telling you the most exciting story. He also talks to his Owl Night Light every time we are on the changing table, and we swear he says "owl."
We celebrated Rick Enzo's first Thanksgiving at Gigi and Papi's house, where he met more family members. He loved his Aunt Kim!...couldn't take his eyes off her beautiful smile. We spent the holiday weekend having sleepovers and playing with Busia since Daddy went out of town. Papi & Gigi decorated the Riri tree with Christmas lights before the first big snow fall of the year. Ricky enjoyed looking out the window at the snowflakes falling and seeing Papi & Gigi all bundled up as they shoveled the driveway.
By the end of the month our big boy weighed in at 11 pounds 12 ounces. Ricky has a big belly now, like the rest of us after Turkey Day! We also started sleeping the entire night in the big boy crib, which was harder for Mommy than it was for Ricky. We have so much to be thankful for this year, especially our healthy, happy Rick Enzo. Every week this month brought so much growth and change. Looking forward to continuing the holiday season with our little turkey:)
Mommy's favorite Ricky Moment: nighttime cuddles after nursing, feeling his cheek and soft breath against my neck as he falls asleep and begins dreaming
Daddy's favorite Ricky Moment: seeing Ricky at his basketball games and hearing him talk to the owl night light.
