Happy 1st Birthday Rick Enzo (12 months old)
Our baby is ONE! On September 5th, 2019, Rick Enzo turned one year old. We celebrated this huge milestone with our immediate family on Labor Day, at home, with lots of Ricky's favorite things- stars, lights, balloons, cousins, lawnmowers, and pot roast. It was a warm, sunny, fun-filled day that ended with a boy covered in frosting....so it was perfect. Later that week, we continued the celebrating at Plush Horse with Ricky's first Pony Cone of strawberry ice cream. He was unsure at first, but then dove right into that little cone.
Busia taught Ricky to put his hands up for "so big!" and rightfully so. At Ricky's one year check up, he weighed in at 23 lbs 9 oz and 31.5 inches tall. He has been taking two or three wobbly steps without assistance for a couple weeks, but on Friday, September 13th, Rick Enzo walked across the whole front room! He went from the couch to the window all by himself right in front of Mommy & Daddy. He still prefers to hold onto some one's finger when he walks, but he is getting more confident scurrying along the walls on his own. He runs with his push toys, and swings with little walker to turn very quickly. His new favorite obsession is the Lightening McQueen push car- he yells, "car! car!" even as he is falling asleep.
Later in the month, we celebrated Daddy's birthday. Daddy has been teaching Rick Enzo lots of new skills, like knocking and putting the basketball in the hoop on his own! Ricky loves knocking on every door, 3 times to be exact. He still thinks it's hilarious when Daddy coughs (which happens alot- allergy season). Rick Enzo mocks every one's cough, although he has a little cough of his own all month with all the drool and boogies from his molars poking through. Despite that discomfort, our happy little boy is still pointing at airplanes, sewers, and all the fall decorations around the neighborhood. His appetite is strong as ever, with a long "Mmmmmm," to let us know he really likes something. Ricky is still very cuddly and friendly. He waves, hugs and kisses, even his stuffed animals.

Looking back on this first year of Rick Enzo's life, we could not be more proud. We are so grateful and in love with this little man. My hopes for next year, and every year, is that Ricky continues to grow and explore with such enthusiasm and excitement. This year, Ricky reminded us to stop and smell the roses, or in his case, stop and point at everything. Although this year flew by, we have slowed down to appreciate all this world has to offer- every tree, plant, car, plane, mailbox, and dog. He is truly a beautiful soul.
Fun Facts!
What do neighbors, friends and family say about Rick Enzo?
Everyone seems to notice him and comment. The singer at Plush Horse interrupted her song to say, "so cuuute!" While on a walk with Daddy, a car pulled over and said, "He is soooo precious." But most of all, we hear Ricky is "good-natured" and "so happy."
Teeth: 9 errupted and 2 more molars poking through
Favorite Foods: sauerkraut still! chicken & rice pesto, mama's banana muffins
Favorite Toys: push walker, push car, lawn mower, basketball hoop
Quirks: makes a kissy noise with his lips, pulls his curls behind his ears, pulls mama's hair when it's down, notices mama's eyelashes when make up is on, throws binky's out of crib, goes limp and back bends when he doesn't want to be picked up, and still thinks sneezes are funny.
