In Awe-gust (11 months old)
In August Rick Enzo turned 11 months and received his first holy sacrament of baptism at Saint Alexander Catholic Church. Aunt Elaine flew in from Arizona to be Ricky's godmother alongside Uncle Mikey, the godfather. Ricky was a little startled, but let that holy water wash right over him with a smile. It was a beautiful day spent with family.
Other major events this month included meeting some brand new babies; cousin Enzo (Rocco & Andrea's son) and our friend Chase (Dina & Dan's son). Ricky has so many playmates to lean from and now to teach. We are still in awe with this charming little man, seeing his personality bloom so much each month. His laugh is truly contagious, and his sense of humor is very endearing. He is still a little snuggle bug, and nuzzles in for great hugs, despite being of the move so much.
So what is Rick Enzo up to theses days?...Well, he is cruising around quickly pushing his walker with no fear. He is close to walking on his own, but just wont let go of mama's hand quite yet. He is getting the hang of "around and down" instead of nose diving off the couch. And he is getting so tall, he has to duck under the table and chairs. Daddy thinks Ricky's first sentence will be, "Watch your head!" There have been a few bumps, but he is pretty resilient and literally pushes through. Less amusing is all the pinched fingers now that Ricky is getting into every cabinet and drawer. Open close, open close, open close.....that entertains him all day until a finger gets in the way.
Ricky has officially left his basketball spectating days behind and is in the game! He loves putting the ball in the hoop with daddy. This helped him start to enjoy his other toys in a new way; instead of throwing things Rick Enzo is not stacking things up, putting his people in the trucks, and dropping the fish in the bowl.
Ricky is still pointing everything out at home and on our walks, but with more attention to detail which is amazing to see. He is making connections between various objects like a fish toy and a fish in a book. We are really starting to enjoy hte books now, instead of just eating them! Every time we are outside, if Ricky hears a plane he stops and looks up. We see the most at Swallow Cliff, in the carrier, climbing the stairs. We also enjoy laying in the yard and looking at the clouds as we watch for planes. Ricky does a big whole arm wave as they fly out of view.
Mommy & Daddy began celebrating Rick Enzo's upcoming birthday by having A Day at the Zoo with a few friends, and it was a gorgeous sunny day. All the kids loved seeing the bears and giraffes most. Maybe it'll be a birthday tradition! The birthday celebration will continue into next month, with Grandpa coming in to visit. Ricky is so excited!
Favorite toys: balls! throwing then, rolling them, dunking them, and he definitely favors the basketball (happy daddy)
Milestones: lots of teeth! 4 on top, 4 on bottom, and a molar on the way.
Words: mama, dada, bubble, banana, airplane, no, yeah, ball
Mama's Favorites: Ricky gives hugs and kisses (big wet ones and eskimos), and he loves wrapping up in mama's shirt
Daddy's Favorite: asking Ricky if he wants to score "2 points" and watching him race to the ball and hold it, scream out because he's ready, and then helping him to the basket to score
